A 2-hour Workshop on the CAGED system!

This workshop will…

– Teach you all 12 major and all 12 minor triads in each of the 5 CAGED shapes without the use of a Capo

– Be a hands-on application of the CAGED system focusing on a practical application of the system with very little time spent on chord theory

– Focus on targeting the root note of each of the 12 major and minor triads and identifying one or more CAGED shapes associated with that note

– Help to improve your ability to identify the notes on the fret board

This will be a great introduction for those who have had no experience with the CAGED system!
For those who have had some experience with the CAGED system this will be a good refresher and a good opportunity to clear up any issues or questions you may have. All workshop slides will be provided, via email, to each participant.

Participants will be required to bring their guitars.

About the Teacher

dave sitting playing blue guitar

When Dave Pereira was nine years old (1958), his dad bought him a Mickey Mouse guitar; from that day, he was absolutely hooked! His father was a drummer in the 60s and his band often practiced at their home, so once Dave had acquired a “real” guitar, he would try to play along. At just thirteen, Dave started performing with a four-piece group that played various functions in the Fall River area. During his high school years, he performed with several different groups and, by college, playing guitar was his main source of income!

Dave has been performing at weddings, anniversaries, parties, bar mitzvahs, festivals, concerts, restaurants, clubs, and more since his early teens. In addition to playing locally, he has performed with musicians in Florida at Jimmy Buffett’s Restaurant in Key West, Nashville at The Nashville Palace, and in the Atlanta area. He currently performs in a duet, occasionally with a quartet, and sometimes even with an eighteen-piece band including trumpets, saxophones, drums, piano, acoustic bass, a vocalist, and of course, a guitar.

“Playing the guitar has brought me countless hours of joy. Over my many years of playing the guitar, I have performed with many very good musicians and have studied with several very good instructors, each had their own unique knowledge, talents, and experiences. During this workshop, I hope to share some of my knowledge of the CAGED system with others.” – Dave Pereira
