“All for A Song”
Pre-Release Concert
At this special concert, Eddie Dillon will perform a selection of songs from his new title as well as play some tunes from his repertoire, introducing several songs never performed in public. A storyteller, raconteur, humorist, poet with the experience of a lifetime on stage, Dillon looks forward to delighting his friends, old and new alike, with a thrilling show.
Eddie Dillon’s song writing reflects a lifetime spent observing the human condition, from comedy pieces and topical tunes to protest melodies and heart-wrenching love songs. Some of his songs defy classification while others fit squarely in their appropriate musical genres of Americana, folk, country, rock, comedy and adult contemporary. With a catalog of over 500 songs and a continuing drive to create more, Dillon is sharing some of his favorite tunes on a new release, All for A Song. This new album is a compilation of recently written songs and some of his favorite pieces written long ago.
About the Artist
Originally from Boston, Eddie Dillon of Fairhaven, Massachusetts is a well-known entertainer and songwriter. Active in the Irish music world for many years, he was the only American to tour with the Clancy Brothers, appearing on television and in festivals and concerts throughout Ireland and the States.
In Massachusetts, Eddie was a founding member of the Shananagans, and performed with Celtic rock band The Aliens. He toured throughout the Northeast with both Aoife and Finbarr Clancy and has played with many other bands as well as solo in venues across New England and New York. His original songs have been recorded and released by Aoife Clancy, Barleycorn, Kiernan McDermott, Seamus Kennedy, The Jammin Divas, Shananagans, Dan Smith, and Eric Simon.
His first CD, ‘Things You Wished You Said,’ consists entirely of original music on an acoustic theme. His songs can be romantic, funny, sentimental, toe tapping and wry. Most importantly, each song is well crafted with a strong melody and polished- but edgy- lyrics. His second, “The Barber’s Lament” consists of original and Irish guitar solos.
As a songwriter, his interests have morphed over the years from the folk styles of the 60’s to jazz riffs, country tunes, bluegrass melodies and ballads of contemporary issues. He has a bevy of comic tunes and four – The Armadillo Waltz, Jack the Mouse, Clamentine and Tough To Be A Spy – were animated by Glenn Alexander and posted on YouTube.
Eddie currently appears as a solo performer and with fellow musicians in night clubs and private concerts throughout New England. An adept and witty entertainer, his performances are always fresh and a surprise to the uninitiated.
Although Eddie is best known a singer-songwriter and musician, he also has a collection of several hundred poems, two unpublished novels, a full-length musical and a monologue on the Irish-American experience. Most recently, three of his poems were published in “Lyrics of Mature Hearts” and two others in “Tidings.”
